On Thursday 28th May the Chief Dental Officer (CDO) for England gave permission for dental practices to re-open from Monday 8th June provided that we are able to implement a number of measures designed to protect patients and staff against Covid 19 (Standard Operating Procedures or SOPs). The CDO didn't publish these SOPs until the afternoon of Thursday 4th June - giving us 3 days to implement this 61-page document. We have therefore taken the decision to provisionally re-open our practice on Monday 15th June in order to fully implement all of the measures detailed in this document to ensure the safety of our patients and staff. The SOPs dictate that we will not be able to provide our normal treatment service for some time. In addition, much of the personal protective equipment (PPE) that we require is out of stock (we have been placing backorders for PPE on a weekly basis since early April).
All patients will be contacted in time as soon as we have further information and are able to book your appointment. There is no need for you to contact the practice at this time unless you have a specific problem with your brace (01225 424051 during our normal opening hours). Please be patient with our receptionists as they are currently experiencing a large number of telephone enquiries. Please do not attend the practice if you do not have a booked appointment as we will unfortunately not be able to see you.
Although we appreciate that everyone is keen to continue with their orthodontic treatment, we cannot possibly make up for the last 10 weeks and see everyone in the first week of opening. We would ask you to bear with us a little longer during this transitional period. We are very much looking forward to seeing you again as soon as we possibly can. Thank you all for your continued support and patience during this difficult time.
